Get Cooking Kid Meets Rachael Ray

Get Cooking Kid Goes to College

LSU AgCenter's Chancellor's Bill Richardson made the decision to change to a healthier lifestyle.  He keeps everyone up-to-date on his progress with his blog.  Nutritionists add comments to the blogs to help him stay on course.  After Lauren's appearance on Rachael Ray and learning of her Get Cooking Kid program that was developed through 4-H, he invited her to be a guest blogger. To read her guest blog click here.


 

Nutrition Summit features Get Cooking Kid

Realizing that the the many programs offered by a variety of agencies are powerful tools to address  poor diet and inactivity, the LSU AgCenter brought together state and regional nutition and health organizations  for a Nutrition Summit on November 15, 2007.  
 
Lauren Ogles, a high school senior and a 4-H member from Ouachita Parish, told about her efforts as a former member of the Louisiana State Food and Fitness Board.  The 2005 State Foods and Nutrition Record Book Winner said, "The one thing I have to think about when I cook is good nutrition."

4-H'er Conducts Cooking Workshop

Although not graduated from high school, Lauren Ogles started her career in the eighth grade. 
 
How?  "4-H helped  me get ready," she said.
 
Ogles, who wants to be a chef, has started Get Cooking Kid, a workshop  she developed through 4-H to show fourth through sixth graders that cooking is fun something they can do.  Each workshop also focus on good nutrition.
